Letters to Charlie Bird

Dear family & friends,

As we start a new month in the NICU, we have also officially entered into the month of Charlie Bird’s original due date (July 26). And, hopefully, if things continue to go well, it will be the month we bring Charlie home.

During the past 73 days, Jordin and I have been completely overwhelmed by the number of people following Charlie’s journey. We have truly enjoyed every card, text, call, Facebook comment, Instagram DM, etc. from friends, family, and even a few relative strangers near and far.

This blog has served as a way to update our loved ones during Charlie’s hospital stay, but I hope it also serves as a way that Charlie can one day learn all about her first few months of life, and how hard she fought to be with us. Yet, only showing her the blog will not give her the full picture of how many people have been cheering her on. That’s where Jordin and I would love for you all to come in…

If you’ve been following Charlie’s journey, we would love for you to write your own letter to Charlie Bird. We don’t care about the format: it could be one sentence saying “You’ve got this!” or a longer letter. It could be written on a postcard from where you live, a card, a piece of yellow legal paper, an index card, or even a sticky note for all we care. We would just love for your message to include your name(s) and where you are from (city, state, country) and your relationship to our family. Our hope is to have a collection of letters to show Charlie someday to truly encapsulate how many people have been in her corner from day one.

If you are interested in participating in this, please send your card/letter/sticky note to our home address:

Our goal is to make a book with all of the letters, notes, etc. that Charlie can look at as she grows up. Consider me old school, but we feel these notes/letters would be just a bit more special than having her read a bunch of texts and Facebook comments (even though we do appreciate those too!).

Again, we want to thank you ALL for the support. Jordin and I could not have gone through this time without the love from our family and friends. Charlie is so lucky to have you all supporting her from near and far, as are we. I will continue updating the blog in the coming weeks as we near the day we get to bring her home. But we hope you’ll participate in this because we think it could be an awesome gift to Charlie now and in the future.

Thanks again for following along! We appreciate you all!

Love,

Chris & Jordin
